Earth Sciences (only PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & MATHS are taught to these students in this College, the main subject is taught in the main University Department). Students doing this Course have the OPTION to continue or not to continue after their three-year undergraduate course, within the 5-year integrated course.

Admission Schedule & admission procedure :

Admission schedule for the year 2012-13 is as listed H E R E.

1. Last date for admission application : to be published as per schedule.

2. Declaration of the 1st Admission (Merit) Listto be published as per schedule. Please see last year's merit lists h e r e.

3. Admission Procedure : Each displayed admission list usually remains valid for THREE days AFTER the display date. All students (from within the published merit list) reporting for admission during this 3-day period will be admitted. Admissions are NOT on first-come-first-served basis. During this 3-day period, admission seekers will fill-up final admission/enrolment forms, attach all original certificates with attested photo-copies thereof, and pay the stipulated fee (cash or demand darft) at the College bank. All original certificates (sans Class X date-of-birth certificate) shall be returned to the candidate immediately upon the payment of admission fee in full. Admission fee details shall be provided at the time of publication of the admission schedule. All students who figure in the merit list and proceed on to take admission to the College, are required to buy a copy of the latest College PROSPECTUS. The prospectus is usually made available in the first week of June every year. It contains at least one admission form, and additional admission forms can be purchased separately. Candidates' presence IN PERSON is essential for admission purposes. Proxy admissions are NOT permitted. One of the parents/local guardians is also required to sign the final admission application. All RESERVED CATEGORY students MUST POSSESS the necessary RESERVATION CATEGORY certificate (and its attested copy) and duly deposit the same at the time of admission. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ADMISSIONS TO THE COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY ARE PROVISIONAL, AND CAN BE CANCELLED IN CASE ANY DOCUMENT/DECLARATION/STATEMENT SUBMIT AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION IS FOUND TO BE INCORRECT.

4. ATTESTATION OF DOCUMENTS

The University has decided to accept the self-attested copies of documents/papers provided by the students. It is made clear that if any false attestation/falsified records are detected, the student will be debarred from attending any course in the University or its College(s) for next five years and in addition, a criminal case under relevant sections of IPC(viz. 470, 471, 474 IPC etc.) will be instituted against him, to subject to the requisite criminal proceedings.

5. LIST OF DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION

At the time of admission, the applicant shall be required to produce following documents in original with two sets of self-attested photocopies of :

  1. Class 10th Board Examination Certificate

  2. Class 10th Marksheet

  3. Class 12th Marksheet

  4. Class 12th Provisional certficate/Original Certificate

  5. Character Certificate (recent)

  6. SC/ST Certificate(in the name candidate)-FOr SC/ST Candidates

  7. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate in the name of the Candidate (For OBC Candidates)

  8. Transfer Certficate from school/college as well as Migration Certifcate from Board/University are required from those students who have passed senior secondary exam from outside Delhi.

  9. At least two passport size self-attested photographs
  10. Bank Draft for the requisite amount of admission fee (to be specified later) favouring the Principal, Hans Raj College, Delhi.

7. ADMISSION FEE : to be specified in subsequent notifications.

8. HOSTEL AVAILABILITY : Only for boys. Hostel admission process starts towards the end of June, after the conclusion of the first one or two admission lists.

11. Foreign Students : should apply through the offices of the Foreign Students Advisor, University of Delhi.

12. Admission to M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. Courses : M.Sc. Admission Entrance Test NOTIFICATION

Candidate seeking admission to M.A., M.Com. and M.Sc. courses should apply directly to the appropriate Faculty in the University of Delhi. Admission to the College will be on the basis of the merit list prepared by the University of Delhi. Please get in touch with the relevant faculty/department of the university. Most PG admissions are routed via an entrance test. Please be on the lookout for entrance test schedule at the web site of the University of Delhi. Once you qualify the test, and have been issued an admission slip for a particular College, please seek admission there. Please note that colleges only enroll students for post-graduate courses, whereas all teaching work takes place in the respective university departments only. Admission schedules for these courses is published in May-June every year by the University only, and not by individual colleges.

13. Cancellation of admission : can be sought any time once a candidate has already been admitted to the College. It usually takes about a 10-15 days to process the refund of fees - through a crossed cheque in the name of the student.

14. Admission by MIGRATION to IIyr (semesters III & IV) & IIIyr (semester V & VI) Courses : is always subject to vacancies available (if at all) in the respective courses. Such admissions usually take place ONLY AFTER the regular admission for the year are over. Migration to a particular course, if possible, is always after the first year (after 1st + 2nd semester), or after the second year (after 3rd + 4th semester). Admission committee takes decision on MIGRATION only upon the recommendation of individual department(s). If at all MIGRATIONS are to begin in a particular department, details will be made available at the College NOTICE BOARD, as well as at our web sites.

15. Admission to Foreign Language Courses : The College runs certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses in German & French languages. These are purely part-time courses, taught by a guest faculty. The members of the faculty are recommended by the Department of Modern European Languages, University of Delhi. Notifications for admission to these courses are displayed in late June or early July at the College NOTICE BOARDS, as well as at T H I S web page, usually after the completion of all regular admissions for the new academic session. Classes are held in the afternoon AFTER 13.30 hours.

16. Admissions on the basis of SPORTS & ECA : candidates need to apply on specific admission forms meant for the purpose, with all relevant documents certifying the level of excellence attained by them in their respective disciplines/fields. Candidates considered suitable will be invited for field trials / stage performance etc.

17. RESERVED CATEGORY ADMISSIONS (SC / ST / PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED / EX-SERVICEMEN's WARD etc) : Candidates under any of these categories must get themselves registered with the appropriate office in the University of Delhi, and then proceed to seek admission to whichever college they have been allotted.

RESERVATION for PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs)

18. Qualifying Examinations

Qualifying examinations for the purpose of admission to the first year of undergraduate courses offered by the University shall be Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto. Candidate seeking admission to the courses offered by the University should have passed the qualifying examination obtaining minimum marks as specified for each of the courses in subsequent sections.

19. Age Requirement

There is no minimum age bar for admission to under graduate courses in the University and its colleges except in professional courses where regulatory body prescribes minimum age requirement (such as MCI, AICTE, etc,). However, candidates seeking admission to the courses offered by the University should have passed the qualifying examination obtaining minimum marks as specified for each of the courses in subsequent sections.

20. Equivalence Criteria

The applications for admission to the Under-Graduate Courses in the Colleges in respect of candidates belonging to the Examining bodies of Boards / Universities recognized / accredited by the Association of Indian University / University Grants Commission / Ministry of Human Resource Development shall be considered by the College / Department in terms of the following recommendations as circulated in the University circular letter of 13 - 1- 2005.

- That various degrees from Universities recognized by the Association of Indian Universities / University Grants Commission / Ministry of Human Resource Development or by any bilateral agreement be considered as equivalent to corresponding degrees of University of Delhi subject to the conditions that course duration is same as in Delhi university for purposes of determining eligibility for admission to various courses and further subject to Departments / Colleges may be allowed to evolve procedure through their respective Admission Committees.

- Senior School Certificate of various Boards recognized by Association of Indian Universities / Central Board of Secondary Education, be considered as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate of Central Board for purposes of eligibility to various Undergraduate Courses.

- Students who pass various Degree / School Examination of Foreign Universities / Boards as have already been approved by the Equivalence Committee, from time to time, be considered eligible as a matter of routine.

The cases of only those candidates who do not fall in the list of Association of Indian Universities / University Grants Commission/ Ministry of Human Resource Development recognized accredited Boards / Universities shall be referred to the University on the basis of individual merit.

21. SPORTS QUOTA

  • It should be mandatory for all the Colleges to provide sports facilities in their respective Colleges and encourage all students to participate in sports and extra curricular activities by introducing inter class competitions and mass sports.
  • The existing provision of not more than 5% sports and ECA quota (subject- wise) be continued. The Colleges should be free to decide the actual number of seats to be filled on sports basis (not more than 5%) keeping in view the facilities available, requirement of the College and other relevant factors.
  • The candidates who have participated in International/ National level be given direct admission.
  • A Weightage of 75% be given to the certificates/ achievements of the candidate's best performance of the last three years as submitted by the student and weightage of 25% be given on field trial.
  • Every College should have Sports Admission Committee of not more than five members with Principal of the College as its Chairperson and the Teacher(s) In-charge (sports) as member(s).
  • The number of seats (course-wise) proposed to be filled by the Colleges on the basis of sports will have to be communicated to the University Sports Council well in advance.
  • Trial should be organized centrally in the University by the DU sports Council. The Director Sports Council will ensure smooth conduct of the trials under the overall supervision of the Chairman, Sports Council. For this purpose, a notification indicating the schedule of trials of different games will be notified to all the Colleges of the University Sports Council (USC). (Final decision with regards to conduct of trials will be intimated by the University separately).
  • Each college will send the list of eligible candidates along with the marks as per the table set out here in to the USC for trial before a date as decided by USC.
  • In order to follow a transparent system, the Coaches/ experts for trials be appointed by the University Sports Council.
